SMART OUTCOMES Art Portfolio Project: SMART Objective
I am planning to create 6 pages ( size A4 )of colorful Illustrations for a mindfulness diary that would help people focus on pleasant aspects of their lives and notice beauty in everyday things. The Diary will be entitled Positive Joy and will guide people through six different pleasures:
- food and drinks,
- travel and nature,
- family and friends,
- entertainment, birthdays
- read books/list of books to read
- happy moments In life
The idea is to illustrate each of the six-chapter pages with a collage of drawings and paintings combined with various pieces of software such as Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop images that would be uplifting and fun.
My flat design Illustrations will be vivid and bold, full of colour and life, reminding the audience that there is much to discover and experience. Each page will follow a similar pattern with gray hand sketches or drawings in the background and a strong, eye-catching design in the middle. Each chapter will also have a title.
The diary's target demographic will be young people and teenagers 10- 30 years who might find it hard to see that each day or month can bring something positive if we learn to notice it. Rather than being divided into months, my diary will be divided into pleasure sections. It is often the case, that the inability to fill each and every day in a diary brings about the thoughts of failure and creates resistance. As we forget to journal every single day of the month, we become disheartened and the project gets put aside. I would like this diary to be a collection of random pleasant experiences that a person has during a year and a place where they can be stored without any pressure or external goal. The finished product would be a great New Year's Resolution supplement, a birthday present, or a start of a self-discovery journey.
This project will take 6 weeks.
ethics in graphic design is a bit different than in art. because I have to consider:
-useability
- accessibility
- privacy
-transparency
-user involvement
-focus
-sistainbelity
In my project, I am planning to research mindfulness from a psychological point of view to be sure that it follows ethical guidelines. My product is aimed at young people so it is important that all content is appropriate. My journal will promote a positive aspect in life, healthy lifestyle, emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing and will help users achieve what they want. It is going to be easy to use and understand. The end product will be made from safe and reusable materials. In the beginning, I was planning to draw human beings but I decided to change them on into animal characters or aliens not to perpetuate stereotypes.
My design will helps people to feel more in control with their live and gives less stress overall. Include books you want to read, recipes you want to try, wish list for yourself, things you do not want forget, birthdays and anniversaries, habits tracker, trackers for progress or improvements. The journal will be pleasant for eyes and will have many colourful decorations.
For this project, I will use Apple I Pad Pro 10 (2020) 12,9' and MacBook Air 13'

Please don't call your project Earthly Delights!!! You should be able to come up with a better title than that! Much of your SMART outcomes needs to be more specific - your target market is 'young people' - how old? A campaign for 3 to 5 years old is very different to one for 12 to 15 years old, for example!
ReplyDeleteFollow up post - start with hand drawings of your designs. Sketches of what you would like them to look like. You need to do extra experimentation with your drawing skills and practise.
