PROJECT SIGN OFF - ETHICAL APPROVAL FORM



 Recently I had a meeting with the Tutor to discuss my upcoming Major Art Portfolio project which is a creating Design Package for a Florist. We have talked about ideas, software, artists research, first sketches, drawings, florists in Leicester and overall plan.

My initial plan was to create a mindfulness journal but after talking with a tutor I was convinced to do something different. Some of my ideas ware: wedding planner, invitations, perfume branding. but after some consideration I chose to create branding for a florist shop. This plan excite me more because of all flower art which I am going to research and create. 




Recently I have been too few florists shops to look at flower compositions, interior design, colour pallet, price list, and talk with the staff about needs of the business.

    Okay, I expect to see follow up posts on this, particularly in terms of going to visit one or more florists to find out how they package and advertise their products.

Artist research - Michael Martchenko - Canadian illustrator

Michael Martchenko was born in 1942 in Carcassone, France and, as a boy, became interested in comic books and cartoons. When he was seven years old, his family moved to Canada where he attended Ontario College of Arts in 1966. While working as a creative director at an advertising company, he was noticed and approached by an author of children's books, Robert Munsch and his publishing house. The two artists quickly found out that they have a lot in common and their fruitfull partnership was born. It can first be appreciated in  The Paper Bag  published in 1980. Ten years later, Martchenko published his own children's book,  Birdfeeder Banquet , wich was well accepted by the critics and often compared to his earlier works with Munsch.  His work was described as full of humour and panache. I Hate Art - Angry Dog - Edvard Munch

Angry Dog is a painting by Edvard Munch painted in 1938-43 the painting shows a big black angry dog with the tongue hanging out. The dog is standing outside in the grass and there are birch trees behind it. the dog is looking at the viewer clearly angry. We can only see the front half of its body. This painting ia a story between Edward and his neigbours dog. The painting is carelessly painted as if by a child. I do not like the fact that the brushstrokes are thick,  defined because it makes the painting seem unfinished unflatering without any techniques and skill. The paint is smeared on the canvas which has many visible blank spaces.  For me, the painting should be more realistic and precise with many details. I am not a fan of abstract composition.
