NEW SPRING TERM - Welcome post
Welcome to a second term of Art Portfolio.
Previous term was challenging, exhausting and demanding. It cost me a lot of sweat and tears but I learnt a lot and feel a bit more confident this time. I hope that during these 10 weeks I will cry and sweat a little less. I am looking forward to new challenges.
During Christmas break I finally had time to watch more of my favorite creators on YouTube and read about their art. I particularly admire Jess Karp when it comes to art using different media. This artist mainly uses watercolor, gauche and experiments with varied forms of expression. She often mixes few media. Her creative process may start with a pencil sketch then she adds outline with a finalizer next she colours it with watercolor or gauche her last step is to finish the project with colourful pencils. Jess Karp's works are always beautifully finished. I am fascinated by her talent even though my main interest is digital art.
My second inspiration is a Spanish digital artist, Laia Lopez. The tools that she uses the most are Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 HDT and Clip Studio Paint. This artist writes and illustrate her own books which is what I would like to do in the future. I must admit that I am not a fan of all her work. The illustrations which depict Japanese manga are not my favorite but I am obsessed with her detailed character drawings.
In the forthcoming weeks I am planning to experiment more with watercolors and gouache which are very versatile and flexible media I would like to create a collection of diverse illustrations and learn different techniques of using them. I'm going to practice layering, creating colour palette and achieving soft gradients, textured dry brush and detailed fine lines.
