REFLECTION
Reflection on my work in the second term
This term went quickly. I expected that this term would be stressful, and I would have to write many posts on my blog. I mainly focused on creating my major project, which was branding for a florist shop. I have finally started learning new software - adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator. This was very demanding for me because I hadn’t used these programs before. I watched many tutorials on the internet, I read instructions and tried to recreate what these graphic designers were showing but achieving satisfactory results was nearly impossible as to capture every step of the video, I had to pause every minute. I had been failing for a long time and I almost lost my motivation. I had constant doubts and I was nervous because it was so painful for me to learn on my own. I wish that I had had a chance to learn this programs before I enrolled on the course. I honestly cannot wait to learn about these programs professionally, step by step.
On Friday, 11th of march I went to the sketchbook show in Gateway House. Students from year 1,2 and 3 of Graphic Design and Graphic Design -Illustration exhibited their sketchbooks and posters. I was deeply impressed by the sheer amount of projects that I could browse through. The sketchbooks ware creative and professional and I could take a peek at what awaits me in the first year of University. I could also interview some of the students about my future progression.
I was stunned by the variety of remarkable pictures, I was able to admire the process of logo designing, different types of fonts in posters, logos and. The other students thinking process and how their idea developed was truly motivating
Next time I have to manage my time wisely so that I am ready to showcase my project on the date of the deadline.
The entire process has taught me a lot. I have researched a lot of new information that helped me with creating this project, but will also help me throughout my career. I had to learn how to use new software and I had to experiment with it quite a lot, before I started to feel comfortable with using different options, such as layers, different shortcuts on the keyboard and more.
These are some of the photos I took on Friday:
