Icebreaker - 3D Self Portrait - Heads/Busts

Each piece is cut separately, layer by layer

Tutor said that we can create 3d Self portrait by using whatever we want. I have decided to make 3D self portrait using cardboard and after paint using Acrylic paint. I started by creating a contour sketch. My inspiration was Ale Rambar who is an artist from Cost Rica. He creates stunning paper portraits.

"I create my paper art to talk about issues of tolerance for the environment in which we live, for the people who live in it and for our representations of love. It see it as an artistic exploration in favor of equality, love, respect and sexual diversity, expressed in works of art that seek to open spaces for conversation." - Ale Rambar

his work:

His studio at San Jose, Costa Rica has light pink walls since that is the hue which he use the most and represent his style. He finished architecture in 2013. Ale creates 3-dimensional compositions made with many layers of paper. He uses watercolour and pastel chalks for his creations.

He describes his work as: Humane, Detailed and Layered

His favourite paper which he uses is from Italian Favini brand (Prisma Line)

He admire several artists: Ambe Noriko, Rogan Brown and Lucha Rodriguez.

Ambe Noriko is born in Saitama, Japan, 1967. She graduated BFA/ Oil Painting, Musashino Art University in Tokyo.
