FRANCISCO Jose de GOYA y Lucientes was a Spanish romantic painter of the late 18th century and printmaker born in 30 of March 1746 in Fuendetodos in Spain and died in 16 April 1828 in Bordeaux in France. He was know as Goya. The focus of his works was subjectivity, imagination and emotion. He closely observed what was happening around him and commented on it in his works. His observations were an inspiration for later modern art. He was inspired by the strange and the supernatural and his paintings often included dreamlike images. His observations of the political and social scene led to the humorous, satirical commentary in his paintings. His style was lavish, his brushwork is at times loose and spontaneous and in his later works much rougher and raw. He played with light and shadow and his palette was mostly warm, He was famous also for his etching and aquatint. This is a really good effort, a lot of ideas here....but as last term, not enough explanation of your thought processes. Part of your ability to communicate as an artist is to be able to write about your work as well as use the visual aspect. Add commentary on what you are doing here and make it clearer.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to understand the role of these images - Geisha 5 & 7 in particular are really strong drawings and further evidence that you have been improving your ability in terms of your drawing practise.
